Peacefully, at Croft Avenue Care Home, Penrith, on Tuesday, 26th December, Edith, formally of Greystoke, much loved wife of the late Tom, a dearly loved Aunt, Sister-in-Law, and a good friend to many. Aged 86 Years. Service and Cremation at Eden Valley Crematorium, on Friday, 12th January at 2pm. Whittle

Nèe MacGregor. Kay of Newton Reigny, Penrith. Aged 75 years. Passed away, gently and with grace at home, on Tuesday, after a long illness, in the presence of her husband of 53 years, John, and some members of the medical teams that had supported her so kindly and well throughout. Particular thanks to the staff of NCIC, Penrith’s District Nurses, Palliative Care Team, Hospice at Home and Birbeck Medical Practice. Kay served Cumbria for nearly 25 years with distinction in various roles including 10 years as the first woman nationally to be a Director of Social Services where at the time she advanced and secured the protection of children and older people. Her cremation will be private. A Memorial Meeting will be held in Spring at The Friends’ Meeting House, Meeting House Lane, Penrith. A notice of its date and time will be published in due course. John Stanley, passed away, at home, peacefully, in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, 27th December. John, of Plumpton, Penrith, beloved husband of Joan, much loved father of Martin and Carole and a sadly missed father-in-law, granda, brother and uncle. Aged 84 years. Service and cremation at Eden Valley Crematorium on Thursday, 11th January at 2.00pm. Sadly, at home, on Monday, 25th December, Tony of Shap, Penrith, a precious husband of Ann and a much loved dad, father-in-law, grandad, great grandad, uncle and a good friend to many. Aged 82 years.
